Defensive Registration vs. Heavy-Handed DMCA

I registered antthropic.com (yes, with the extra 't') in good faith and set it up with a transparent htaccess proxy to mirror the real site. The sole purpose? To prevent phishing. It was a simple, proactive measure to stop scammers from exploiting a common typo to target users or employees of the actual Anthropic (anthropic.com).

Anthropic's response wasn't a conversation, an inquiry, or even a simple request. Instead, they immediately resorted to legal threats, hitting me with a DMCA takedown notice. An incredibly disappointing and, frankly, disproportionate reaction to a defensive registration intended to prevent harm related to their brand.

warning A Note to Anthropic

Jumping straight to a DMCA for a defensive typo registration? Really? Perhaps consider that not everyone is out to get you. Sometimes, people are trying to prevent the actual bad actors from causing problems. A simple conversation costs nothing and might reveal allies instead of perceived enemies. Maybe rethink your default response next time – communication works wonders.
